HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
We are celebrating this year with the kids at Valleyfair in Shakopee, MN ~ prepared for a day of rides, water, and fair food!!
The first ride the kids went on was the Scrambler! Parker, at first, thought it was a little "kiddish"...until it started whipping them around! YAY! Our first ride is a success! They went on it 2 more times after that!
A lovely treat on a 90 degree day....they have little stands where you can mix your own icees! There are a TON of flavors and if you walk around with the cups all day, you can get cheap refills!!
SPECIAL ALERT!! Savannah is FINALLY tall enough to ride ROLLER-COASTERS!! The first one we went on was the CORKSCREW! This is the one that does loop-de-loops and you get to flip upside down! She was nervous at first, but as soon as the ride was over she looked at me and said, "LET'S GO AGAIN"!! Sniff, sniff....a girl after my own heart!
Doesn't this look fun?! Big boat, large ramp and hill that makes a GIGANTIC splash! You can also stand on a bridge and get soaked from the splash after you've been on the ride....why not!? You're already soaked to your underware!! I figure they can dry off as we walk around...hehehehe!
LUNCH TIME! Pizza and fresh fruit....plus a lot of water! It was SO HOT and I wanted to make sure no one got dehydrated and sick!
This ride is called Mad Mouse....it's kinda set up like the game Mousetrap. Every time you cruise around a corner, you feel as though you are going to fall off...fun stuff....Savannah was NOT impressed!
Me and Chad! Awww....
It's a rarety for Chad to not look like he's either in pain or taking a poop in pictures....he has such pretty eyes!
A dart-board ride. You go shooting out of the starting block and then slam to a stop before hitting a bullseye.
OH GOOD GRIEF!! Aiden was SO SCARED to go on this ride! I think it's like the oldest ride at Valleyfair and it does NOT go fast, does not do loop-de-loops, but it's kinda rickety and there is quite the incline, but then it's a bunch of fun little ups and downs...where you can raise your hands above your head and shout "whoooo" instead of gripping on for dear life screaming "ohhh SHIIIIITTTTT" as I tend to do on rides like Wild Thing!
One of the newer sections of Valleyfair is their water park! You can rent a cabana there for the day - which, if you plan on only taking in the water park is a good idea. There were TONS and TONS and TONS of people here today ~ not my cup of tea ~ so we couldn't even find lounge chairs to sit in. But, the kids had fun and we only stayed for a couple of hours.
The lazy river....it goes around the waterpark and you just let the current take you along. It was the only think I insisted we do as a family.
The WAVE POOL! Every 10 minutes a horn blows and then giant waves come out of the front of the pool and gradually get smaller as they reach the "shore". The waves last about 5 minutes or so and seriously, I had to make Savannah and Aiden stay in about 2-3 feet of water because it is REALLY over-powering! Totally fun!
End of the night, the kids are enjoying some funnel-cake fries with chocolate syrup and powdered sugar! Had to get a fairwell pic with lights in the background! The fireworks didn't start until 10:30 and at 9:00 we had to head HOME...yes, I said HOME (it's a 3-4 hour drive) because Chad had to be to work by 11:00 the next morning! We met a storm on the way @ midnight...just sayin'....not gonna do that again after such a long, HOT, fun-filled day! I think Chad agrees ;0)
Yep, this was about 10 into our drive home! I'd say the trip was a S-U-C-C-E-S-S!!
